When do you need a KEDASY assessment report translated?

One of the most common reasons for translating a KEDASY report (issued by the Greek Centres for Interdisciplinary Assessment, Counselling and Support) is to take a language certification exam.

When a candidate is entitled to special exam arrangements because of learning difficulties or other educational needs, the exam body may ask for the report translated into English, German or another language in order to consider the request.

Depending on the exam body and the case, these arrangements may include extra time, adapted presentation of the exam material, a different exam format or other accommodations. Approval is not automatic, as each exam organisation applies its own requirements and deadlines.

A KEDASY report may also need translating when a family moves abroad, when a child enrols at a foreign or international school, or when the report has to be reviewed by teachers, psychologists and other professionals who do not speak Greek.

Because the document concerns a minor and may contain sensitive information, its translation requires accuracy, specialised terminology and confidential handling.

Why is specialised terminology needed?2026-11-01T02:55:16+03:00

KEDASY reports combine educational, administrative, psychological and sometimes medical terminology.

Terms such as “special educational needs”, “differentiated instruction”, “parallel support”, “oral examination” and “Individualised Education Programme” must be rendered accurately and consistently.

The translator must distinguish an educational finding from a medical diagnosis and preserve the degree of certainty of the original. They must not correct, interpret or extend the conclusions of the interdisciplinary team.

When is a translation of the report requested?2026-11-01T02:55:32+03:00

A KEDASY report is often translated to apply for special arrangements in foreign-language certification exams.

Before ordering the translation, contact the exam body and confirm:

  • whether a KEDASY report is accepted,
  • how recent it must be,
  • which language it must be translated into,
  • whether an official or certified translation is required,
  • whether the full report must be submitted,
  • whether there is a specific form to fill in,
  • the deadlines for submitting the request.

A translation may also be needed when:

  • the child is enrolling at a school abroad,
  • the family is moving to another country,
  • continued educational or learning support is requested,
  • foreign-language teachers or specialists need to be informed,
  • the child will attend an international or foreign-language school.

Submitting a translated report does not mean the requested arrangements are automatically approved. The final decision lies with the competent exam or educational body.

What does a KEDASY assessment report include?2026-11-01T02:55:37+03:00

Depending on the case, the report may include:

  • details of the pupil and the school,
  • background and reason for referral,
  • educational and psychosocial observations,
  • results of the interdisciplinary assessment,
  • a description of strengths and difficulties,
  • findings on special educational needs,
  • recommended educational support measures,
  • teaching or exam adjustments,
  • the main points of an Individualised Education Programme,
  • signatures, roles and stamps.

The translation must render the entire document, without omissions or arbitrary interpretation.

Is an Apostille needed?2026-11-01T02:55:21+03:00

An Apostille is not required in every case. It depends on the destination country, the type of document and the requirements of the school or competent authority.

If an Apostille is required, it must be added before translation so that it is translated together with the rest of the document.

Before you proceed, ask the receiving body:

  • whether it requires an Apostille or other legalisation,
  • whether it accepts an electronic public document,
  • whether a certified copy is needed,
  • whether all stamps and endorsements must be translated.

Translation does not replace legalisation of the original when it is required.

Is a certified or a standard translation needed?2026-11-01T02:55:27+03:00

The required form depends on the body that will receive the document.

A standard translation may be enough to give a teacher or therapist initial information. For school enrolment, an administrative procedure or a request for special educational support, an official or certified translation may be required.

Before ordering, confirm:

  • the country and body of submission,
  • the required language,
  • the accepted form of certification,
  • whether paper or electronic delivery is needed,
  • whether the original or a certified copy must be submitted.

The final decision on accepting the translation always rests with the body receiving the document.

How is personal data protected?2026-11-01T02:55:11+03:00

KEDASY reports concern minors and may contain information about learning difficulties, disability, mental or physical health and family circumstances.

That is why extra care is needed when:

  • sending the files,
  • accessing the documents,
  • processing and storing them,
  • delivering the translation.

Reports should never be sent to unverified recipients, posted in social media groups or shared via public links.

Frequently asked questions2026-11-01T02:55:06+03:00

How long does the translation take?

It depends on the number of pages, the language, legibility and any accompanying documents. The deadline is confirmed after the initial review.

Do all pages need to be translated?

For official use, the whole document must be sent. Missing pages, stamps or annexes may affect its acceptance.

Will a school abroad accept it?

That is decided by the school or competent authority, which may ask for additional documents or a new assessment.

Can a foreign assessment be translated for KEDASY?

Yes. Before ordering, ask the competent KEDASY for guidance on the accepted format and certification.

What to check before you send the report

Before you send the document for translation:

  • scan all pages at a good resolution,
  • make sure no edges, stamps or signatures are cut off,
  • include any annexes and accompanying reports,
  • state the target language,
  • tell us the country and the institution where it will be submitted,
  • give the official Latin spelling of the name as it appears in the passport,
  • state your preferred delivery date,
  • clarify whether you need a printed or electronic copy.

If there are earlier translations or established renderings of names and terms, send them together with the new document.

Translating a foreign assessment for use in Greece

Translatable can also translate foreign educational, psychological or interdisciplinary assessments into Greek.

Before the translation, ask the relevant school or KEDASY to tell you:

  • whether the full report is required,
  • whether a certified translation is needed,
  • whether certification or an Apostille is required,
  • whether the original test results must also be submitted,
  • whether a supplementary assessment will be required in Greece.

The translation faithfully renders the content of the foreign document, but it does not replace the assessment or the decision of the competent Greek authority.

Need a KEDASY report translated?

Send Translatable all pages of the report, stating the language, the country, the institution where it will be submitted and your deadline.

Our team will check that the file is legible and complete and will tell you clearly about the process, delivery time and cost.

Need a translation, an interpreter or German lessons?

Send us your document or request and you will receive a clear quote with cost and delivery time.
